By default, Windows 10’s lock screen times out and switches off your monitor after one minute. If you’d like it to stick around longer than there’s a simple Registry hack that will add the setting to your power options.

Registry

  1. Open registry: Win+R and type: regedit
  2. Go to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\7516b95f-f776-4464-8c53-06167f40cc99\8EC4B3A5-6868-48c2-BE75-4F3044BE88A7
  3. Change Attributes value from 1 to 2
  4. Close registry

  1. Open Power options, go to advanced power plan settings
  2. Scroll down to Display -> Console lock display off timeout
  3. Change time to whatever you want
